Autosurfing and Poor Judgement
Its been a steep learning curve and fortunately my losses have not been excessive (only about $20AU at the moment). However, against my better judgement I have gotten into some more autosurfs, the most recent being 12by12Daily, an offshoot of another company which has been running for almost a year.
Current listing:
12by12Daily
I am also in AsianPay’s Investor Corner. This is whats known as an LYIP (Low Yield Investment Program) and whilst its return is much less than the Autosurf and HYIP programs, its still more than you’ll get from your bank. It is not available to anyone except AsianPay members who are at least basic verified.
Oh, and gold is all over the shop again. Up by $6 overnight on Sunday, down by $20 today. Looks like the speculators are at it again.

A word about Registration on this site
In short, you can’t.
I’ve had another email via the contact form saying “I’ve tried to register, but I can’t, please register me” or somesuch content… of course the notion is patently ridiculous, since I have not activated any site registration code and have no intention of doing so…
Also when the request comes from someone who does not participate in any of the post comments, it becomes more ridiculous. So my assumption is that this might be the latest in an attempt to gain credibility on blogs running wordpress because once you are registered, you can post anything you like (spam, spam, spam, spam). If you are really good, you could hack the entire site.
Either way… sorry… registration has not ever been active here, and won’t be. You can ask, but don’t be offended if I refuse.
Anonymity and the Internet
Most of you are aware that you aren’t truly anonymous as you traipse around the net. Every website you go to retains a bit of information about you, and wherever you pick up cookies, those cookies can be read later on to find out where you have been.
There are a lot of solutions for this kind of surreptitious spying, but one which has recently come to my attention is Tor, which is an anonymising proxy service. Its a free downloadable application which you can run on your Windows (98, 98SE, NT4, 2000, XP, Server), Macintosh (Tiger or Panther), Linux (Debian, Redhat, Gentoo or SUSE) and BSD (Free, Open and Net) machines. Theres also a source tarball if you’ve a mind to compile it yourself.
From the website:
Tor: An anonymous Internet communication system
Tor is a toolset for a wide range of organizations and people that want to improve their safety and security on the Internet. Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features.Tor aims to defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal anonymity and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security. Communications are bounced around a distributed network of servers called onion routers, protecting you from websites that build profiles of your interests, local eavesdroppers that read your data or learn what sites you visit, and even the onion routers themselves.
The Mac (Tiger) version installed painlessly, and its useable once you set all your proxies up. But ever so S L O W L Y.
I’ll use it for a few days and see if I get used to the delayed load on websites… if not… I guess anonymity isnt that important to me.. but for those to whom it IS important, its probably worth trying out.
Teenage females and doorbells
Can anyone explain to me the fascination that teen females (usually sub-15) have with ringing doorbells and then running away?
I seem to recall when coparenting a teen female that this was highly amusing to her, as well. But it was something she did occasionally, not daily, as has become the habit in my neighbourhood.
I left my former abode to come out to the burbs to escape ferals… They seem to have followed me: my street is now full of renters, rather than the owner/occupiers who were here 6 years ago when I first started looking… and they aren’t what you’d call “quality” renters.
Am I being precious? You betcha! I want a quiet life, I work in a people industry and I do not want it following me into my own environment. These budding antisocial PDs banging on my door and ringing the bell are just what I need to galvanise me into shaping up and shipping out.
Well, either that, or build a 6 foot brick fence. There are many advantages to fences. One of those is being able to keep people OUT and stop the vexatious opportunistic rubbish behaviours one sees so much of.
